Many of you will be partying and drinking tomorrow night while counting down. But some of you may be sitting by your computer and clicking your web browser’s Refresh button as you eagerly await for the iPhone Dev Team to post their iPhone 3G Unlock software.

If you don’t know who the iPhone Dev Team is, they are a group of crack hackers who have been producing the Pwnage Tool for to jailbreak iPhones so it can run homebrew software that are not subject to the iPhone SDK limitations, as well as get you away from your mobile operator’s lock-in. I have a 2G iPhone and I have been happily using with T-Mobile.

Up to now, there has not been any software only solution to unlock 3G iPhones to be used with other mobile operators. That’s apparently going to all change tomorrow night when this elite group of hackers post their software to ring in the new year.
