As expected, Palm announced its new Nova OS today at CES. They also announce the imminent availability of a new device, but only a pre-production of it was available at the show.PalmPre

The new device is called Palm Pre. Engadget had a chance to play with it and gave it extremely positive reviews. Engadget said that the user interface may even be better than the iPhone.

Check out the Engadget review here. InfoSync also has a very positive review here.

The Palm Pre will only be available on the Sprint network when it launches first half of 2009. Here are some quick specs to stop your drool for the moment:

  • TI’s latest OMAP CPU
  • 3.1” 480×320 LCD touch screen
  • 3 MP camera
  • Built-in GPS with turn-by-turn navigation
  • Portrait Slideout Hard Keyboard
  • Palm WebOS, based on Linux

Well, it does look like Palm have a pretty interesting device to compete in this crowded market. Can the Palm Pre raise Palm from the dead? Palm’s stock went up 35% today due to this announcement already. Maybe Pre will really be “amazing”!
