If you have missed all the hoop-la about the Palm Pre last week, you can catch up on it here.

It’s being touted as the iPhone killer, with an amazing UI, awesome web browser, etc. But one thing that not a lot of people have mentioned so far, is that the Palm Pre will also support wireless charging. They are shipping an accessory called touchstone (shown below) that allows you to charge your Palm Pre without wires.

The technology works similarly to how your electronic toothbrush. Notice that there isn’t any metal contacts in your toothbrush dock? It is being charged by induction (see HowStuffWorks.com for more details), and there are several companies working on wireless power, including Fulton (their technology is called eCoupled) and PowerMat.

So we are betting all the major device makers will quickly follow Palm’s lead and make their phone’s charging station wireless very soon.
