3D UI on Mobile Phones
How 3D do you want your UI to be? The video below shows an implementation by TAT of some 3D UI on a phone. It looks very sweet and nice, but it’s nothing more than eye candy at the moment.
TAT (The Astonishing Tribe) is a Swedish company who helped Google develop the user interface for Android. Many companies are exploring the use of 3D on a phone and how they can change the user model using 3D. The goal is to not only to make it look sweet, but also to make it more functional and intuitive to use. We are not so sure whether we want to reach into 3D space in order to do email, access our calendars or to make a call. But then again, we remember a time when we though color screen on the Palm was a waste of power…
