Google Mobile Book Search Now Available

googlebooks

Google just announced that they are making 1.5 million books freely available via http://books.google.com/m. This is not a mobile bookstore, however. It’s simply the books that were already available on Google Book Search optimized for the small screen. You will notice that the books that are available via Google Book Search are rather old. Well, Google needs the copyright to be expired before they can publish them to the world, so this is not for you if you want to read this week’s New York Times Bestseller. Google Book Search also has a small number of titles that it has the publishers’ permissions to publish online.

Big E-Newspaper

The Book Expo in Taiwan is showing e-readers that have approximately 24-inch screen. Local newspaper publishers are just showing them to gauge interest. It’s a little too big for us to carry, but Chinese Engadget reported that the screens are beautiful. One of them even has color.
