By now, everything there is to know about the HTC Magic is public knowledge. HTC is launching the phone with Vodafone in April, and could be coming to a T-Mobile store near you very soon as well. Other than the Magic though, HTC has promised at least 2 more Android-based phones in 2009. No specific details on these handsets yet.

Samsung

At MWC this year, Samsung also promised 3 Android-based phones in 2009 [Source: Reuters]. It’s been speculated that Samsung Android phones will be based on similar platforms as the Omnia and Instinct. The first spyshot of one of its Android-based phones has been shown on Engadget recently.

Huaweihuawei

The Chinese manufacturer is expected to have 2 to 3 Android-based phones out in 2009 as well. In February’s MWC, the company announced its first Android-based phone, but it only showed a non-functional prototype tucked away behind glass. The company has also announced a deal with T-Mobile to release a Android-based handset in Q3 2009.

Garmin

The GPS maker’s marketing director of Asia Pacific confirmed that Garmin plans to release a self-developed Android-based handset in the 2nd half of 2009. This is unit will be released after the company’s delayed nuvifone G60 (now in partnership with Asus), which is not based on Android.

LGlg

The Korean company is now the 3rd largest mobile phone maker in the world. LG announced a deal earlier this year with Microsoft, committing to using Windows Mobile as its preferred OS. It has also committed to bringing around 50 Windows Mobile based phones to the market by 2012. However, that doesn’t mean Windows Mobile will become its exclusive phone OS. The company has also said that it will make its first Android-based phone available by June, and 2 more by end of 2009.

General Mobile

Another Chinese company bringing us some Android goodness. This one looks pretty slim and sexy. The DSTL1 features dual SIM slots, 4GB internal memory, 3-inch touchscreen display, a 5 Megapixel auto focus camera with flash, WiFi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth and a microSD card slot. You can find out all the other details on the company website. No firm word on when it will hit the market, but probably sometime before Q3.
