Skratch List & Free List– The Fun To Do List Apps for the iPhone and iPod Touch
Skratch List and Free List are the same app. The only difference is that Skratch List costs $0.99 to buy and Free List is ad-supported.
We originally wrote these apps for ourselves, out of frustration that iPhone did not come with a To Do List application and there were no good To Do List applications on the App Store. All we wanted was something that was simple and intuitive that allows us to quickly jot down a task so that we can track it later on.
Now, we are proud to bring you what we think is the best To Do List and Task List application for the iPhone and iPod Touch – available for immediate download through the Apple App Store. You can download Skratch List from here, and Free List from here.
Features of these apps include:
- Simple, clean and intuitive user interface.
- Directly add and edit items in the list view to save time.
- Check off items one by one while you get things done.
- FlickAdd feature with a flick gesture on your iPhone to quickly add new task item.
- ShakeTrash feature with a shake gesture on your iPhone to quickly delete all completed task items.
- Keep track of when task items are due by setting due dates.
- Hide and show completed task items from view.
- App icon on the iPhone home screen shows number of incomplete task items to give you a quick at-a-glance information.
- Works for both iPhone and iPod Touch
Here are some screen shots of Skratch List below.

Main View
The main view shows your Task Items directly. You can directly tap the checkboxes to check and uncheck each Task Item. If there is a due date for the Task Item, it is shown in the same row.
To delete a particular item, swipe on the row.

Main View – Add or Edit Items Inline
No need to go into a different view to edit or add a new Task Item. Just tap on the “+” sign to add a new task or tap an existing row and start typing!
If you want to quickly add several Task Items at once, simply flick your iPhone after you finish typing the first Task Item and before you tap “Done”. Skratch List and Free List will automatically add a new row and put the focus there so you can immediately start typing again. No need to tap “Done” and then tap the “+” symbol at all!

Task Item Details
If your Task Item text is too long, you can view and edit it on a separate Task Item Details view.

Set Due Date
It’s up to you whether you want to set a due date on a particular Task Item. Once set, the due date will be shown in the main list view. If the due date is past and you have not checked off the item, the due date will show up in red
.

Show/Hide Completed Items
You can keep your Skratch List and Free List free of clutter and help you focus on incomplete tasks by hiding already completed items. Tap the button at the bottom tool bar to toggle between show and hide completed items. When completed items are hidden, the button will show you the number of hidden items.

Edit Mode – Delete and Reorder Task Items
Tap the Trash symbol in the main view to go into list edit mode. In this mode, you can tap the stop sign icon to delete a row. You can also grab the reorder icon on the right to reorder rows.
But remember, you don’t need to be in edit mode to delete items. You can just swipe on the row in the Main View to delete a Task Item.

Trash Completed Items
You can delete all completed items if you tap “Trash Completed Items” in the edit mode. But why be boring? Instead, celebrate your accomplishments (you completed several tasks after all) by shaking your iPhone in the main view. You will be asked to Trash Completed Items. Have some fun while you are at it!
